My name is Erik Loebl, I am a married 34 year old male. My wife and I have 4 children. I had been having headaches occuring in the back of my head which I thought were stress related. Often these headaches were resolved through a short nap. I also experienced a numbness in some of my body parts which often were a result of strenuous work/exercise. In preparing for Hurricane Rita I had one of these aforementioned headaches, and being a very spiritual person I prayed that God would remove the headache from me. I took a short nap on the floor in hopes that the headache would go away and didn’t know that the short nap would result in a series of operations and a potentially life threatening situation.

I wrote the short book “A Light in the Midst of Darkness” to recount some of the memories I have of the event and the rehabilitation process that ensued.
