Questions? Faith Based Healing

Annie Jennings PR is the company I am using for radio PR, (I purchased 10 radio spots). Since they want me to be really prepared for my radio spots I was asked to answer the following questions.

Here are the questions I had to answer:

What is faith based healing? Are there steps to take?

Faith based healing involves putting the outcome of one’s (either your’s or someone else) healing healing into the hands of someone bigger than you, who can actually do the healing.

In my case, my wife knew that God was powerful enough to heal and restore her huband.

There are no steps to take, healing is free gift from God. Since in the Bible. Jesus healed many people who needed it, she prayed in Jesus’ name.

The steps involved are believing that God can do the healing and restoring and placing all of your confidence in that hop.

Why is taking appropriate action, such as nutrition, lifestyle, exercise important?

Proper nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, and exercise are appropriate actions which are extremely important in surgery and the rehabilitation process.

I attribute good nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, and moderate exercise keys which gave me the strength required for the various surgeries.

Examples of supplements you should be taking for good nutrition, and I take, are on this blog, as well as at this site: http://potenthealthsupplements.com

What does faith play in helping people through hard times?

Faith is an important item to have during hard times. It is important to have someone bigger that you to sustain you during tough times.

How can friends and family support people in their time of hardship? What can they say or do to help?

Family and friends can offer their support and encouragement during another family’s time of hardship. Cards sent to the person can be an encouragement to the afflicted. Visits made to the hospital can be helpful. Visits to the sick in the hospital should be encouraging. If nothing encouraging can be said, reading from a favorite book can be made. Music can be brought into the room to encourage the patient. If possible even movies can be a source of encouragement to the patient.

Meals for the family who is undergoing the hardship is a form of support. Any type of childcare is important to the needy family.

What are the things people should NOT say to those people in their crisis situation?

Words that are not encouraging should be the only words that are said to people in a crisis situation. Nothing negative should be spoken, “No negative, no time”.

Think of it this way, the patient is the one “strapped” up to the machine and wants to leave, and can’t go anywhere. The visitor can leave.

What is the power of prayer? Why is prayer important?

Prayer can be instrumental in changing the outcome of a diagnosis. It can change a malignant diagnosis to a benign one. The power of prayer can surpass all human limitations.

In my case prayers were offered up to God, and my diagnosis was changed from medulla blastoma (malignant) to juvenile pilocytic cytoma (benign).

How can parents help specifically?

Parent’s can be of specific help by:

-Watching the grandkids while the patient is in the hospital.
-Watching the grandkids when the patient is well enough to come home.
    -Cooking for the afflicted family.
-Supplying groceries for the afflicted family.
-Making repairs on the house, when the afflicted can’t do them.
-Helping take the afflicted to any doctor’s appointments.

How can children be a source of rehabilitation such as coming back after surgery or cancer treatment?

Children can help with the rehabilitation process. Children can be a motivation for the person to get better.

My youngest son, who was at the time just learning how to walk, was an encouragement to me, just trying to learn to do the same thing at the same time or to surpass him.

Reading books out loud to young children helped me with verbalization skills. I think that they overlooked many of my mistakes in not being able to see the words and not being able to readily pronounce all the words because I am still daddy and they respected me for that.

How can they help in the rehabilitation process?

Children can help in the rehabilitation process because they are so full of life and energy. They can make a rehab person try to keep up with them, which makes them have to recover faster.

Why do you feel you are a gift of a miracle

I could have been dead or severely handicapped as a result of 3 serious surgeries. I had a diagnosis changed from malignant to benign. Many others could have died or have been severely damaged after having similar surgeries. As a result of my surgeries I had to learn the simple process of walking again, I also had challenges with seeing, writing, and talking. These simple processes had a speed up recovery period.

Do miracles happen?

Miracles do happen today. I think sometimes miracles seem like they do not happen when the answer does not come the way the person expected. A miracle can occur, and does occur when the object of their faith sees fit that a miracle would be the better outcome for the individuals who will be directly affected.

In my case, for God to heal me would be better for my wife and children and others, than for Him otherwise to take me from this world.

Do some people forget about faith in times of trouble?

I don’t think people forget their faith in times of trouble, but it is even stronger during these times. There is nothing a person can do except call upon someone who can handle the big need they are facing.

What is the first few things people should do when faced with a sudden crisis such as an illness, loss of job, sudden financial problem?

When people are faced with a sudden illness, loss of job, or a sudden financial problem people should”
• Remain calm
• Cast their cares and faith on someone that can handle the situation.
• If action can be taken, it should be done. Things such as praying for a new job before you start looking. There is an adage, “God can’t move a parked car.”
• An illness can involve a surgery or non-surgery. In a surgery the non-patient can pray for the doctor’s hands before the surgery. In a non-surgery case proper nutrition can be implemented to aid the recovery process and to strengthen the afflicted’s body.
